Rust Servers is back online: PHP updated, security audit complete

21st of October 2026

Rust Servers is back online

Rust Servers is back online. All services are running again, including server listings, voting, accounts and the blog.

What happened

On 20/10/2026, a serious vulnerability known as PHP2Shell was disclosed in PHP. The language powers a large part of the web, and rustservers.gg uses it too. We took our services offline right away, as a precaution, so the site and its users stayed safe while a fix was prepared.

What we did

  • We kept the site offline until PHP released its update for the exploit.
  • As soon as the update was available, we installed it on all of our servers. They now run PHP 8.5.12
  • Our security team audited everything.
  • We were one of the firsts to patch it, after the update came out, so minimum downtime

Was rustservers.gg breached?

No. rustservers.gg has not been breached. We take your personal data seriously, and protecting it is the reason we chose to go offline instead of waiting and hoping.

What you need to do

Nothing. Everything is back as it was, and your account works as before.

Thank you

We know the downtime was frustrating, especially for server owners who rely on the listings. Thank you for your patience. If you have questions, join us on Discord.
