Faster updates, live player counts and custom maps on RustServers.gg
21st of October 2026
We have rebuilt a large part of what runs behind RustServers.gg. Most of it you will not see directly, but you will notice it: the site is faster, server info is fresher and the numbers are more accurate. Here is what changed.
⚡Server info now refreshes within minutes
Before, we checked every server one at a time. With thousands of servers on the list, a full round could take a long time. All that checking also slowed the website down for everyone.
Now we check hundreds of servers at the same time, and the work is split over several workers. Every server on the list gets refreshed within a few minutes. The website itself also stays fast, because the background work no longer competes with your page loads.
What this means for you:
- Player counts and queues are close to real time, so you see how busy a server is right now.
- Maps and wipe info are much more up to date.
- Servers that go offline (or come back online) show their new status quickly.
- The "Last check" time on each server page shows again, so you can see how fresh the data is.
🗺️Custom maps from RustMaps
Many servers run custom maps. Until now, we could only look up a map by its size and seed. A custom map server would often show a normal procedural map that was not the map you would actually play on.
Now we check which map file a server is running and look that exact map up on RustMaps.com. On the server page:
- Custom map servers show the real map image and a link to the map on RustMaps.
- They are labelled as a custom map, and we no longer show a seed and size that do not apply.
- Procedural maps still work as before, by size and seed.
When a server changes its map, we look the new one up automatically.
🔦Fairer spoof detection
We flag servers that look like they fake their player counts, so you do not join a "full" server that is really empty. Our detection can be too strict for servers that are always full, because their numbers look unusually stable.
Our team now has a review screen for flagged servers. We can check each one by hand and clear the flag if it was a mistake. If you own a server and think it was flagged by mistake, contact us on Discord and we will take a look.
The page shows the prices, monthly points, vote multiplier and daily ranking bonus of every plan, plus answers to the most common questions. Prices always match what you pay at checkout, because the page reads the plans directly from our system.
